How to Pick the Right Bed Size for Your Dog

The most common reason a dog ignores a new bed is simple: it's the wrong size. Here's how to measure your pet and choose a bed they'll sink into instead of step around.
Measure your dog, not your guess
With your dog standing, measure from nose to the base of the tail, then add 8–12 inches. That's the minimum bed length for a dog that likes to stretch out.
For curlers, measure their diameter while they're sleeping in a ball and add a few inches of margin so the bolster can cradle them.
Match the sleep style
Sprawlers do best on a flat, generous surface. Donut-sleepers love a bolstered edge to rest a chin on.
Older dogs and heavier breeds benefit from a supportive memory-foam base that doesn't bottom out — like the base in our Cozy Dog Bed Combo.
Plan for washing
A bed gets used every single day, so a removable, machine-washable cover isn't a luxury — it's how the bed stays fresh.
Keeping a spare cover on hand means there's always a clean one ready while the other is in the wash.
